If it’s beaches you’re after, you’ve come to the right place. Cornwall has some of the best beaches in the world, from vast expanses of sand with rolling surf to sheltered coves with rock pools, perfect for paddling or crabbing. We’re just over two miles from the coast, so whatever type of beach you’re looking for, we can point you in the right direction. And if you forget to bring your own beach equipment, we have wetsuits, body boards, buckets and spades, fishing nets and more you can borrow from the Laundry.
Here’s some of our guest’s favourite beaches:
Sandymouth
Beautiful National Trust beach with lots of sand at low tide and plenty of rock pools. Café, toilets and surf school, plus a lovely walk along the cliffs into Bude.
Duckpool
Small, pebbly beach, which reveals expanses of sand and rock pools at low tide. And yes, there is a pool with ducks on it! Our favourite spot for late evening fish and chips as the sun goes down.
Welcombe Mouth
Off the beaten track, smaller and often quieter than the other beaches. Narrow track down to the car park. Look out for the Old Man of Welcombe.
Summerleaze and Crooklets
These adjoining beaches in Bude are always popular thanks to their wide, open stretches of sand, good facilities and surf school. The iconic Bude Sea Pool lies between them.
Widemouth Bay
Another big sandy beach great for families with plenty of facilities including surf schools.
Hartland Quay
Fantastic cliffs and rock formations. An ideal spot for wave watching especially on windy days.
Westward Ho!
Vast sandy expanse, popular with surfers, windsurfers and lovers of big skies.
