You don’t have to go far if you’re looking for action. North Cornwall offers enough activities to keep the most energetic children or thrill-seeking teenagers happy.
Within easy reach of West Woolley Farm you can try:
Surfing
The North coast is a mecca for surfers. There are plenty of excellent surf schools, some of which take children from as young as five. And whether you’re looking to catch your first wave or are an experienced wave rider, you’ll find the conditions and help you need. If you just fancy having a go at surfing or bodyboarding on your own, we’ve wetsuits you can borrow. Just be sure to surf on Coastguard-patrolled beaches.
Kayaking and Canoeing
Paddle power is a great way to explore the area’s waterways and coastline. There are plenty of companies offering escorted canoeing or kayaking nearby, the Tamar Lakes and Bude Canal are great places for a first paddle or head further afield to The River Fowey. An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, its banks and meadows teem with wildlife. For a real adventure, try sea kayaking. Discover hidden coves and secret caves – if you’re lucky you might see seals or dolphins.
Coasteering
Looking for a real adrenalin rush? Then try coasteering! A combination of traversing rocks, wading through rockpools, sea swimming, negotiating rock jumps and exploring caves, it’s a great way to see Cornwall’s spectacular coastline. And it’s a great chance to get up close to marine life. Check out http://www.outdooradventure.co.uk/ for more details.
Horse riding
If you’ve a keen horse rider in the family or a small pony mad person, we can recommend several good local stables. As well as having lessons, there’s the opportunity to go for a hack – and there’s no better way to see the countryside than from in the saddle. Beginners of all ages can go on a leading rein and you can join in, either mounted or on foot.
