Accessibility Guide for West Woolley Farm
Introduction
At West Woolley Farm, we try to make everyone’s stay as safe and enjoyable as possible. We therefore do what we can to provide suitable access for all our guests and describe our facilities and services accurately to allow you to book the right cottage for your specific needs. Of our six self-catering cottages, five are converted from old farm buildings and we have one newer build cottage for two (Shepherds). Currently none are rated under VisitEngland’s National Accessibility Scheme. Parlour, Stables and Shepherds have bedrooms and kitchen/living areas on the ground floor which maybe more suitable for those guests who have difficulty with stairs.
Arrival and Parking
- There is a drop-off zone adjacent to our main courtyard which provides access to our courtyard cottages (Grain Store, Mill House, Parlour and Stables) via a shallow ramp and to Shepherds via two low level steps.
- Parking overnight is provided in our separate car park around 25 metres away from the main courtyard with wood and gravel steps up to the cottage levels. There is motion/light sensitive lighting of the car park and steps to improve visibility at night.
- The drop-off zone for Anna’s Cottage is directly outside the cottage with level access to the front door and overnight car parking 30 metres up a gently sloping unmade track.
- Should any guest have difficulty accessing the car park areas, please let us know and we’ll do what we can to allow parking in the drop off zones subject to maintaining access for other guests and farm traffic.
All Cottages
- There is a no-smoking policy on site
- All cottages have non-feather duvets, pillows and cushions. Towels and bed-linen are cotton
- TV’s have the capability to switch on subtitles
- All bedrooms have windows and natural daylight
- A toilet booster seat can be provided on request
- Where possible we can move furniture to improve accessibility
- All cottages have fire prevention, protection and escape procedures but due to the internal layout of Parlour, Stables and Shepherds, in the event of a fire, guests booking these cottages must be physically capable of exiting the building via a ground floor window should the primary escape route be blocked or impassable.
- The gardens and grounds of the cottages are reasonably level but due to being a farm environment, the surfaces can be uneven in parts and may be slippery/muddy in wet weather
